It’s hard to believe that Elmo has been delighting children since the early 1970s! When my boys were little, they loved to watch “Melmo” while enjoying an afternoon snack. If you have a toddler or preschooler who loves Sesame Street, then this Cupcake Liner Elmo craft is for them!
Cupcake Liner Elmo Craft
Easy and fun, this cute craft is perfect for little hands at home, daycare, or school. It’s a great afternoon boredom buster!
Materials and Directions:
- Red cupcake liners
- Construction paper (white, black, and orange)
- Glue stick
- Black marker
After gathering supplies, instruct children to flatten their cupcake liners. Glue the flattened cupcake liners to a piece of black construction paper.
Next, find small round objects to trace for Elmo’s eyes, nose, and mouth. My child traced a fifty cent piece for Elmo’s eyes and nose, and a small mason jar for his mouth.
Instruct children to cut the larger black circle in half, then glue down both the eyes, nose, and mouth onto the red cupcake liner. Older preschoolers may enjoy the challenge of drawing and cutting their own circles.
Invite children to use a black marker to add detail to Elmo’s eyes.
Kids can practice writing Elmo’s name with a white crayon, then of course, sign their own name before hanging their art work up on the refrigerator.
