I love making homemade beauty products! There are so many fun things you can make that area all-natural, easy and cost way less than they do in the store. Including an amazing tinted lip balm!
At first, it feels a little overwhelming but once you make one, you will realize just how easy it really is.
Tinted Lip Balm
Today I’m sharing my favorite tinted lip balm recipe. It takes no more than 5 minutes to make! I love this recipe so much and it makes a fantastic little DIY gift.
You don’t have to worry about all the extra ingredients and allergens like store bought lip balms (turns out a lot of them have soy in them.) And as someone who is sensitive and has a lot of allergies this is perfect.
It gives your lips a little color and keeps them soft and hydrated!
Ingredients Needed To Make This 5-Minute DIY Tinted Lip Balm
This tinted lip balm doesn’t require a lot of ingredients, just a little over a handful. Some of this you may already have in your cupboards like coconut oil or grapeseed oils.
If you don’t, we can help! (This post contains affiliate links.)
- A small lip balm container
- 2 tbsp of Beeswax
- 1 tbsp of Coconut Oil
- 1 tbsp of Grapeseed Oil
- Lipstick
- 4 drops of Essential Oils
If you have a double broiler you will need that as well. If not, you can do what I do which is to use a small sauce pan and a glass bowl.
How To Make Tinted Lip Balm:
Step 1
Heat water in your saucepan – you don’t want it to start boiling, so just watch it so it doesn’t pour over.
Step 2
Put the beeswax, coconut oil and grapeseed oil in the glass bowl and sit it right on top of the sauce pan.
Step 3
For color, grab a tube of lipstick and shave off a tiny amount with a butter knife. The amount you want depends on the color you want. I had a very bright pink shade and so I used very little.
Step 4
Melt all of it together and once you turn the heat off, add in four drops of the essential oils you want to use. I used Lavender because I just love the scent. If you would like the smell stronger then use more oils, I prefer it to be really subtle.
Step 5
Let it cool and you’re all done!
Notes:
This makes about 12 pods. If you like the traditional chapstick tubes better, those work well also.
