What You Need to Make a Felt Button Chain: (affiliate links)
- Felt sheets
- Buttons
- Embroidery thread
- Embroidery needle
- Scissors
Cut a 2″ x 9″ strip from each color of felt.
Use the embroidery thread to sew a button in a matching color onto the end of each strip.
Cut a button hole in the other end of the strip and loop the two ends together.
Attach the pieces together to make a chain. This is a great activity to help strengthen fine motor skills.
And by using so many different colors to make the felt button chain, you can also work on color recognition with your kids.
I like to carry this around in my bag for those times when noisy toys (or kids) aren’t really appropriate. My son is too busy concentrating on looping the pieces together and fastening the buttons to be hyper and crazy.
It’s also a good way to keep kids quiet during church.
