We planned a fun movie night with Andy and his cousins to watch Abominable, now available on Digital, and Blu-ray and DVD December 17th. The boys enjoyed hot chocolate, snuggled with Everest, and loved the movie.
We love the positive message of the movie. The characters never give up on their journey to find Everest’s way home showing that “a little positivity goes a long way”!
Because we loved the movie so much, we were inspired to to make some homemade glittering snow playdough to play with as well as a few printable math games that the boys could use to practice.
Homemade Glittering Snow Playdough
Here’s what you need to make this Homemade Glittering Snow Playdough:
- 2 cups cornstarch
- 1 cup conditioner
- Fine white glitter
- Fine silver glitter
- Mixing bowl and spoon
Add the cornstarch and glitter to the bowl, then slowly mix in the conditioner. Use your hands to knead and mix the playdough to form a soft, clumpy dough that can be rolled into snowballs.
Print the Abominable Snowball Math Games on cardstock and laminate them. You could also use packing tape to seal both sides if you don’t have access to a laminator.
Now, it’s time to play!
Roll two dice and use the numbers you rolled to make an equation.
Count out the number of snowballs needed for each number, then count out the number of snowballs needed to discover the answer.
This fun visual is a great strategy for kids to employ when working with math problems.
My kiddo and his cousins had so much fun imagining their own adventure with Everest as they played our Snowball Math Games.
